Treason Night — Terms & Conditions
Version 1.0 — 17 July 2026. These terms apply to the use of the online game Treason Night and the purchase of game credits. This is a courtesy translation: in case of any difference, the Dutch version prevails.
1. Who we are
Treason Night is offered by De Geheimelingen, registered at Linderflier 39, 7681 ZK Vroomshoop, the Netherlands, with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KVK) under number 53735978, VAT ID NL001664627B80. Contact: info@treasonnight.com ("we", "Treason Night").
2. Definitions
- The game: the online game Treason Night, playable in the browser and (later) via apps.
- Host: the player who organises a game and uses a game credit for it.
- Guest: a player who joins for free by invitation, with or without an account.
- Game credit: a digital credit allowing the host to start one game. One credit = one game.
3. Who can play
- Playing is allowed from the age of 16.
- Buying game credits requires you to be 18 or older, or to have permission from a parent/guardian.
- The host makes reasonable efforts to ensure guests meet the age requirement and know these terms.
4. Accounts and guest profiles
- You can join as a guest without an account. Guest profiles (rank, seals, statistics) are kept for 30 days; after that they may expire.
- Accounts are free. Your details must be accurate and your account is personal: sharing, transferring or selling it is not allowed. One active session per account at a time.
- Creating or using multiple accounts to obtain benefits (such as the free trial game) more than once is not allowed.
- You can have your account deleted at any time via the account settings or by contacting us. Personal data is then deleted or anonymised in line with our privacy policy.
5. Game credits and prices
- All prices on the website and in the game are in euros and include VAT.
- Game credits are a digital service, hold no monetary value, are non-transferable and cannot be exchanged for money, except as described in these terms.
- A credit is only used the moment a game actually starts (when roles are dealt). Opening a lobby or inviting players costs nothing. If you cannot gather enough players (minimum 6), your credit simply remains available.
- Game credits do not expire for as long as the service exists (see section 11).
6. Payment
- You can pay using the offered payment methods (including iDEAL). Credits are added to your account immediately after payment.
- In case of an unjustified chargeback of a payment for which the credit has already been used, we may charge the actual costs involved and restrict the account until resolved.
7. Right of withdrawal (cooling-off period)
- As a consumer you have a statutory cooling-off period of 14 days after purchase. Within that period you may cancel the purchase without giving reasons. We will refund the amount for unused credits within 14 days using the same payment method.
- If you start a game with a credit within the cooling-off period, you expressly consent to immediate delivery and use of that credit, and you waive your right of withdrawal for the part used. This is clearly stated and confirmed at purchase and at game start.
- Withdrawing is easy: via the cancellation button on the website/in the game, via info@treasonnight.com, or using the statutory model withdrawal form (available on request).
8. Availability and outages
- We do our best to keep the game available and running smoothly, but cannot guarantee 100% uninterrupted operation. Planned maintenance is announced where possible.
- If a started game breaks off due to an outage on our side (for example a server failure), we restore the host's used game credit automatically or on request. That is our first and primary remedy.
- We are not responsible for players' internet connections, wifi, devices or browsers, or for players who leave or lose connection themselves. The game is built so that a player who briefly drops out can return within a few minutes with the same role, and the game can continue as long as at least 5 players remain active.
- Nothing in this section limits your mandatory statutory rights regarding conformity of digital services.
9. Fair play and conduct
Treason Night is a game of deception — inside the game. Outside of it, rules apply:
- Play fair and in the spirit of the game: no looking at someone else's screen, no sharing secret role information outside the game (for example via another channel), and no coaching players with information they should not have.
- No hateful, discriminatory, threatening or sexually intimidating behaviour; no bullying. Betrayal belongs to the game — disrespect does not.
- No cheats, bots, exploiting of bugs, or attempts to abuse our systems or the free trial game.
- Recording or streaming a game is only allowed with the consent of all participants.
In case of violations we apply an escalating policy: warning → temporary suspension → permanent ban. Serious or intentional violations (such as fraud or threats) may lead to an immediate ban. A ban for violations does not entitle you to a refund of used credits; unused purchased credits are refunded upon a permanent ban, unless the ban results from fraud or abuse involving those credits.
10. Liability
- We are only liable for damage caused by intent or wilful recklessness on our side, or by failure to perform a core obligation — in the latter case limited to foreseeable, direct damage.
- Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid to Treason Night in the 12 months preceding the event.
- These limitations do not apply where mandatory law prevents them, including damage caused by intent or gross negligence and damage to life or health.
11. Changes and end of service
- We may continue to develop the game (new features, roles, balance), as long as the core — a playable game for 6 to 12 players — remains intact.
- Changes to these terms or to prices are announced at least 30 days in advance by email or in the game. If you disagree with a change to your disadvantage, you may stop and we will refund your unused credits.
- If we permanently discontinue Treason Night, we will announce this well in advance and refund unused purchased credits.
12. Privacy
How we handle your data is described in our privacy policy. In short: we only process what is needed to run the game, we never sell your data, and your email address is never visible to other players.
13. Complaints and applicable law
- Complaints? Email us first at info@treasonnight.com — we respond within 14 days and prefer to solve things together.
- These terms are governed by Dutch law. Disputes are submitted to the competent court in the Netherlands. As a consumer you always keep the protection of the mandatory law of your country of residence.
